This is Ilia.




Today, we spent a lazy few hours on the patio of a cafe in Yorkville.




It was lovely out.




Ilia ordered an espresso.




He wasn't impressed.




He taunted this bird, accusing it of being 'the wrong colour.' (Photo by Ilia.)




Ilia had joined me on a particularly, um, interesting ring sizing expedition today and behaved very, very well. For this, he earned himself four teuscher Champagne Truffles, a sumptuous treat.




They were, it seems, incredibly good. Ilia remarked that such decadence 'is illegal in most countries.'

Later that evening, we went to Cafe Crepe (Queen Street West, just east of Spadina Avenue). This is the ceiling.




Dan points out to Ilia that the Orangina poster is, in fact, two posters put together.




Ilia takes this news hard. He's really more distressed than he has any right to be.




Janet and Dan are amused by this.

The glorious day of guilt-free fun (neither of us entirely finished with exams, but taking a much deserved break from the stress) had to end at some point. With any luck, it's just a taste of what this summer will be like...

Glen Morris Avenue and Spadina Avenue. A rather sketchy-looking fellow cowers into the corner and drinks something from a brown paper bag. Not suspicious at all.

Ah, just a ring I'm buying myself for fun. But Ilia and I went into a really fancy jewellery store so that I could figure out my size and I let him pick the ring I tried on. He chose a really pretty ring...that happened to be an engagement ring. So the saleslady presumed that he and I were getting married and we played along, talking about cuts of stones and pricing plans and how to upgrade to a larger stone in a few years (ha!). She just went ON and ON. Ilia was very, very patient, and Ilia has no patience for annoying, rambling people.

So he earned exquisite chocolate.

That is so hilarious!!! hehehehe. Ross' and my friends Katy and Nick did the same thing. I think I'm too sentimental to 'upgrade' to a bigger diamond. The first one would have been special because it was the one I got for my engagement. But then again, I'm not that materialistic of a person. It's not the size of the diamond, its the size of the penis.

Totally with you on the upgrade thing. I was pretty horrified. I can't believe anyone would actually care enough to do that? I agree--the first ring, no matter what it looked like, would be representation of a very special moment. If I was really that hell-bent on getting a bigger/better diamond, I'd get myself a whole new ring. But the engagement ring is special.

And, yeah, you've got your priorities in line. Clearly. :-)
