I was sitting on the patio today for the sole purpose of engaging in my latest artistic endeavour: drawing. Because none of the people around me would sit still--and why would they, given that they did not know that they were to be the subject of my sketching?--I settled on drawing this fence post enclosing the patio tables and chairs. (I assume the perfunctory enclosure is simply there for the sake of alcohol licensing.)
What follows is a photograph of the post (taken after I was done drawing, which means the lighting was different when I started an hour earlier--that seems to be how the earth works in all its rotating glory around the sun) and the subsequent drawing, my second sketch ever since I took a drawing class in the summer of 1999.
