Pedantry Digest

Staring out the window while studying at Starbucks (College Street and Beverley Street). The sepia toning (with a cooler-than-usual colour temperature) makes it look a lot warmer outside than it was in reality.




Anyone who has followed my photo journal for any length of time (perhaps, especially, the last couple of weeks) will have noticed my preoccupation with colour saturation. It follows, then, that I love rainy days for the fact that they serve to naturally saturate all colours (most notably red bricks, green grass, and dark brown tree trunks). This tree's flowers turned neon in the rain-soaked world today, which was quite stunning against the wet, rich brown of the tree trunk.







The ever-patient Ross has, yet again, become the subject of my photography. He's gotten himself into quite the predicament in that he both allows himself to be photographed and happens to be wonderfully photogenic and natural in front of a camera. At this rate, he's going to be my subject for a very long time. (If nothing else, I do hope my British audience--comprised almost entirely, if not actually entirely, of his friends--will appreciate this.)

Anyway, the original intention of this series of images was to capture the interesting pattern of slats in the blinds above the boy's head. As it always seems to happen, though, I became more taken with the idea of capturing a person (objects just aren't as engaging). This sequence follows Ross and I having a chat. I absolutely adore Ross's expression in the last picture (truly, I like most everything about the picture, at the risk of being too boastful about my own work--I pleased that I also managed to get a decent shot of the blinds, as was my initial intention).
















The 'party' was later moved to Fran's Restaurant (College Street, just west of Yonge Street) for another four hours of studying (me) and marking essays (Ross).
