Kensington Market: Augusta Avenue, north of Nassau Street. Perolas Latin Foods, where I buy corn tortillas (because the chain supermarkets here only sell flour-based 'wraps' and certainly nothing called a 'tortilla').

Kensington Market. A dog in front of Freshmart on Augusta Avenue about five seconds before he started barking at someone behind me (which I took as my cue to leave him alone). I wish I had had a fish-eye lens with which to take this picture; I think it would have been more interesting.




Kensington Market, Perolas Latin Foods. Warning signs like this make me want to do exactly what they instruct me to avoid. Forget the children--now all I want to do is plunge my hand into a box of cool, dry black beans.

Major Street, a bit north of College Street. This looks like a truck heading, full speed, towards someone's front door. Honestly, who designs these signs?




Along an alley enclosed by Major Street, Harbord Street, Robert Street, and College Street. An old-style (and very old) laundry line under some very forbidding clouds.

My fascination with the decrepit continues. Still, I don't know how anyone can look at something like this and not see an artful composition. I don't think my pictures did it justice, though I like how the experiments with tinting/saturation came out in the colour image.

There's something creepy about this, though I'm not quite sure what it is.




A ladder with the most interesting mechanism. It's a pulley system of some sort, though I have no idea what it actually does. But a ladder with a motor...I think they're onto something.
















And, finally, my favourite of the day. I had a wonderful time playing with the colours for this one (a truer-to-life representation of the colours can be seen in the previous few images). In spite of the strange look this guy initially gave me (I'll grant him that it's probably odd to find some girl standing around in an alley taking pictures of a ladder), he ended up being the one who made this shot what it is.
