Happy Mothers' Day! At home (in Beverly Hills, not Toronto), in the kitchen. My mother is making her famous deviled eggs. She usually decorates them to look like devils (frilly red toothpick horns, caper eyes, and black olive goatees)...





...but, today, she made them look like women's faces.





My brother, Adam. Rugged, insightful twenty-something, or dazed, lazy deer-in-the-headlights? You decide.





My brother's friend, Scott. Apparently, he was in high school with my brother (and me, subsequently, since my brother was only one academic year my senior at the time) for a year-and-a-half before he left. Somehow, I never met him until today. Hi, Scott. Sorry for shoving my camera in your face; it's nothing personal--that's just what I do to people these days.





The backyard of close family friends (who we could probably just call "family" by now). Every once in a while, the camera gets turned on me (and, even less often, I'll post the results). That's Aubrey, my "quasi step-sister", on the left (our parents have been dating for almost nine years now--"step-sister" isn't quite the right word, but it works for us). Aubrey has the most fantastic hair on the planet.





I turned my head for all of thirty seconds and my genius brother--a man who works with highly volatile chemicals on a daily basis and has made hobbies out of both riflery and skydiving--had managed to stick his hand into a bowl of tiramisu.





Sometimes, it's just better not to ask questions.





This is the back of someone's shirt. It actually commemorates time spent in New Orleans, but I get the feeling this advice is just as fitting for many people in university.
