First of all, here are the flowers in my room that I've been bragging about since I bought them on Sunday. I am proud to say that I picked out the individual flowers and arranged them myself--I am pleased with the final product. This picture was taken at night under my floor lamp, which accounts for the distinctly tungsten glow.

Here's another shot of the flowers in high-contrast black-and-white. The next two images play with somewhat extreme (oxymoron, I know) colour saturation, so think of this as an optical cleansing of the palette.

Cooled temperature and a green tint have turned my purple flowers blue!

Somewhat warmer temperatures (still cooler than the first image in this series) with a red tint create more of a blossom-and-blood-bath effect.

And now for something completely different: Major Street and Sussex Avenue in mildly saturated colour and black-and-white.

So THAT'S where Ross got the idea to get flowers for his room. I talked him into getting a bamboo plant, which really cheered up the place. I have two of them in my room. Hopefully he can get some 'tiger' lilies. The only bad thing about buying cut flowers is the depressing part when they start to wilt...

Yes, what can I say? I'm planting ideas in his head and they've been taking root. (Oh, oh, two puns in one sentence--stop me before I hurt myself.)

Good work on the bamboo--this concrete cave of ours can always stand for a little greenery. Tiger lillies sound nice. My personal affinity is for Gerber daisies, hence their presence in my bouquet.

And, yes, wilting flowers are depressing and I've seen my fair share. I do well with potted greens and cut flowers, but I seem to have a bit of an inadvertent Kevorkian complex when it comes to potted flowers...

I don't like gerber daisies based on their name alone. It makes me think of baby throw-up.

I'm sitting here with Ross as I type this and you should know that our little chat about Gerber daisies (specifically, the baby reference) left him completely confused. It was cute, this British man lost in a North American allusion.
