Pedantry Digest

Still in my bedroom in Toronto. Peter, as he appointed himself, was my "project manager" as I packed my bags for Los Angeles (at the last minute, as usual). Hooray for middle management.





Spadina Avenue, just north of Queen Street West, sitting in the taxi in the usual Chinatown traffic going south towards the Gardiner Expressway. Now, "Happy Meat?" At the risk of sounding presumptuous, I'd be willing to bet that the meat hanging in the window would beg to differ.





YYZ (Toronto Pearson International Airport), Terminal 3, Gate B13, waiting to board my flight to Los Angeles. I left my apartment just after 3:30 PM and, as I wrote in my journal, "Just over a half-hour later I've been through all the checkpoints, browsed two small airport shops, bought myself a Coke (it's been a while), a magazine (Harper's, since no one had The Walrus), and my mother's favourite [Canadian] chocolate bar (Mothers' Day tomorrow, after all), and have taken more than enough photos of the terminal for Pedantry Digest." We didn't even board until 5:45 PM. I had plenty of time to kill.

Watching the baggage handlers unload the luggage from the previous flight, I reflect on this past academic year and realise that Assignments #1 and #3 from CSC148 [Introduction to Computer Science] have completely ruined the airport for me."

LAX (Los Angeles International Airport), between Terminal 3 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal, waiting to be picked up. "The white zone is for the loading and unloading of passengers only. Please do not leave your car unattended. All unattended vehicles will be cited and towed." (How many millions of times in my life must I have heard that warning? I know it as well as the alphabet.)
