Pedantry Digest

Harbord Street, at the edge of a north-south alley somewhere between Lippincott Street and Bathurst Street (across from Central Technical). I don't condone graffiti as it defaces the property of other people, but as artwork, I'm impressed by abstract pieces like this with so many layers and bright colours.





Washington Avenue, between Huron Street and Spadina Avenue. This photo (and a few others in the post) is the result of my taking a slightly different route home from the Saint George Street/Bloor Street area. There aren't too many dimensions to speak of here, but I really like the lines.





Prince Arthur Avenue, just west of Avenue Road. This is such an ominous-looking building--there's something very creepy and imposing about it in person (not to mention that it seems a bit out of place in its neighbourhood); I'm not convinced I was able to capture it well on film.





Same location as the previous photo. Now that I look at it, this picture is suprisingly bland. But I was so excited to get people--any people--in one of my shots that I feel I should post it regardless. If the photo was of a much higher resolution, I think I'd crop it more closely around the three men to really change the focus/composition. Oh, well.





Same location as the previous two photos. This is part of a boarded-up, abandoned two-storey building just a couple of lots down from the ever-ominous 20 Prince Arthur Avenue. I would have loved to explore the property more, but I think I was tresspassing as is (not that anyone cared).





In a sort of H-shaped alley just south of Sussex Avenue and north of Glen Morris Street (I think). This is someone's garage in the middle of the city centre, but looking at this shot, it seems like it could fit just as well out by a forest.





Same alley as the previous photo and by far my favourite shot of the set. I must have taken ten photos of this set-up alone (I didn't touch it--this is how it was when I found it). I don't know if it's a cross and [fake] flowers placed as a memorial or a few items of someone's backyard rubbish that found its way into this interesting composition. I love the exposed brick under the concrete.

Is it wrong that I seem to be drawn to such desecrated property...?
