On the north side of College Street, looking south down McCaul Street. This picture planned itself: the streetcar wires were already mapped onto the CN Tower in the background as I walked by and looked up.





The alley between the Engineering Annex and the Sandford Fleming Building, just east of King's College Road. Though I understand it, I find it strange/amusing that adjusting the contrast caused the actual sky to tend towards white, while the reflected sky tended towards a richer blue.





In non-digital photography (though I'm sure upgrades in technology now exist to make this possible in digital photography), there is a laboratory process known as "dodge-and-burn." Dodging and burning refers to the manipulation of light from an enlarger (the device used to shine light through film onto light-sensitive paper) such that certain areas of a given shot are exposed to the light shining through the film for a longer (or shorter, depending on how you think of things relatively) period of time, thusly creating a more even sense of brightness (and contrast, if manipulating using filters) in a given photo. "Dodging" refers to covering up an area to decrease its exposure time, while "burning" refers to covering up the light-sensitive paper around the area to allow the area an increased exposure time.

I am well-practised in the area of dodging and burning in non-digital photography, but haven't a clue how to do it effectively (and seamlessly, which is very important) in digital photography. So while I like this picture of bicycle racks at the side of the Bahen Centre for Information Technology (taken on the corner of Saint George Street and Russell Street), I really wish I could take it into a lab to dodge out some of the left side (or burn in some of the right side) to even out the brightness.
